The 2011 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Heavy Duty pickup trucks review
Posted on 28. Jun, 2010 in Chevrolet, GMC
The first look at Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, you cannot distinguish both the models from their previous models. The new models are truly redesigned with new grilles, power dome hoods, full width front bumpers and much more. These features have tremendously improved the looks of the new Chevy and GMC machines although there are significant changes made to the interiors of the new machine with improved engines, transmission combos being offers, improved brake system, redesigned frame and the new front and rear suspensions and many other features. The standard on both the machines includes a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 gasoline engine. The engine is completely based on Chevrolet’s small block design engine that features a camshaft. The new design engine when combined with variable valve timing system gives a better torque level at lesser RPMs.
The power to the machine is transmitted through a 6L90 six speed automatic transmission that helps in strengthening input and output gear that is the most demanding factors in heavy-duty trucks. The low first gear in the pickup trucks helps to get most out of engine’s torque. The six gears in the heavy-duty trucks help the engine and transmission to get the best combination to match up with the truck’s load. You can manually control the up and down shifts with the tap up and tap down switches. The optional features in the new 2500 HD and 3500 HD trucks includes a new 6.6 liter Duramax turbocharged diesel engine, the new machine has lots of features extracted from the previous generation machines. The machine is capable of delivering great results in tune with the current latest technological developments. Although there are several improvement and refinements made in the latest version that helps to make more powerful, fuel efficient and clean engines.
The new improvements in the two machines are higher-pressure fuel injectors, selective catalytic after treatment system that uses diesel exhaust fluid that helps in reducing NOx by 63 percent, it also includes an exhaust brake system that helps to slow the truck there by saving the wear off of brake pads. Both the models come with a Duramax Diesel engine that sends the power to the engine through an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission. The redesigned fully boxed frame in the new 2011 HD truck comes with an additional high strength steel that helps to greatly reduce the twist and flex. The rear suspension of the new machine are handled by asymmetrical springs, the 2500 HD is fully equipped with two stage springs and when the truck is loaded the second step springs gives an extra support. The new enhancements made in both the Silverado and Sierra helps to improve towing capacities. Overall, the GMC has put greater efforts in building a strong and fuel-efficient truck. While I write this review, I just cannot wait to get the first slice of both the super engines.
